JOSHUA GRICE
PROJECTSABOUT

My name is Joshua.

As a 3D designer, I specialise in integrating 3D workflows into design teams and creating the visualisation of digital samples.

With a strong background in design, I have developed a tailored 3D workflow that bridges the gap between designers and manufacturing. Over nearly four years at McQueen, I have refined this process into a highly collaborative approach with the design team. The non-destructive workflow promotes creative exploration and rapid iteration, as 3D models can be easily edited and adapted without the need to start from scratch, unlike most traditional 3D workflows.

My dedication to implementing 3D workflows within the footwear department has resulted in my role being expanded to encompass all design departments as of early 2025. I am now collaborating with each team to develop tailored workflows that address their specific needs.During my time at McQueen, I have explored and successfully implemented a range of innovative technologies to support design and prototyping. These include 3D printing, 3D scanning, Virtual Reality headsets (for sculpting and visualisation), Geometry Nodes (algorithm-based design), and the use of Augmented Reality for visualisation.

These examples only begin to scratch the surface of 3D’s potential. With proper investment, 3D can be integrated into almost every area of a business to create more efficient processes in terms of time, cost, and sustainability. Applications range from generating digital colourways prior to sampling (for both internal exploration and early buyer engagement), to producing animations for external communications and social media, as well as creating interactive 3D assets for e-commerce.
